Wow, it's been over a year since my last journal! I guess that's some indication of just how 'interesting' my life gets :D.

I know my submissions have been somewhat lacking in the past few months, it's not that I've lost interest in photography, far from it, but most of the stuff I've been doing recently is just for friends or family, nothing worth posting for the world to laugh at ;p. I was toying with the idea of a new camera, one of the soon-to-be-released updated Canon models, with 50 megapixel sensors! That would produce some amazingly detailed images... But at over £3k for the 'entry' level model? Nah... Maybe not.

The Lego collection seems to be growing at an exponential rate, and I have long since used up every square inch of display space that I can find. I now have dozens of sets all squirrelled away in cupboards and under beds waiting for the day that they can be finally be assembled. However I have now also started collecting lightsabers again. I did flirt with the idea back in the mid 2000's, but after a half-hearted attempt at making my own, the whole scheme fell by the wayside. Last year though I discovered a company in Oregon called 'SaberForge', and took a gamble on ordering one of their sabers. I was that impressed with what they made (an 'inspired-by' recreation of Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber in The Phantom Menace) that I ordered another one straight away, and now have another three more being made! Hell, even my family have agreed to get me a sixth one for my birthday :D.

On the downside though, I am about to start the count-down to the big four-oh. 39 this year, and it's all downhill from there! I already have my mid-life crisis planned out, and as soon as my shoulder is fixed I'll most likely get my motorcycle licence sorted out and then there might be a Harley in my future... Yeah, I know, typical :D.

Anyway, it's time for sleep. Getting a year older really takes it out of you!

Adios amigos ;).

Well, what can I tell you about myself... For a start I'm an IT engineer by trade, dealing mostly with the retail sector, but if it's a PC, printer or till, I can probably fix it. I've always had an interest in digital photography ever since I borrowed a friend's Sony Mavica camera (which saved photos to a floppy disk!), and I gradually worked my way up through a series of 'point n click' cameras until I finally bought my first DSLR camera. It took a little while to adapt to a camera that was capable of being controlled manually, rather than letting a CPU make all the decisions for me, but I think my skills with a lens are gradually improving.

Now, I'll admit it, I'm a Star Wars nerd, and being the big kid that I am I started collecting Star Wars Lego toys, began to use them in my photography, and uploaded the results here on DeviantART. They turned out to be rather popular so the collection of models steadily increased (just for the minifigures, honest ;p) as did the style of photos I was using them for. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get some in a gallery, but I have to admit I'm not too sure about the legality of that option, so I'll hold off for now :D.

My other hobbies... Well, I do have an interest in firearms, which is a bit of a double-edged sword as I live in the United Kingdom, a country with some of the strictest (read: restrictive) gun laws in the world. However, I still get out most weekends for a session of clay pigeon shooting, and in the past I used to be a keen airgunner and then an airsoft skirmisher. But once you've shouldered a shotgun, and heard the noise and felt the recoil, airsoft guns start looking very much like the toys they are. I actually got the nickname "SWAT" from fellow members of a rifle club I used to attend, mostly because I always wore black when shooting. It eventually stuck, and I like it :).

Last few things: I have an interest in anything sci-fi or gadget related, I love anime series and movies, I build PCs like they're going out of fashion, I love playing Battlefield 3 (same name on there as on here), and I love driving anywhere for any reason.

If there's anything else you want to know, just ask me , but in the meantime go have a look through my gallery, and let me know what you think.

Peace, out.

I kinda geeked out a bit at the closing scenes of the last Rebels episode, so I had to add this to my faves :D.
