Not a post for my benefit this time, at least not directly ;).

I'm sure that many of my fellow Lego Star Wars fans will be aware of the Lego Cuusoo site, where users can submit their own designs and creations, and if they receive 10,000 votes of support, the idea will be considered for actual production. Recent ideas that have been made in to actual limited-run kits include...

The Shinkai 6500 research sub [link]
The Hyabusa asteroid research probe [link]
Minecraft [link]
Back To The Future Delorian [link]

Now, the first two of these sets would only really appeal to a narrow range of potential buyers, as they are rather specialised (they were products of the original Japan-only Cuusoo site, which only needed 1000 votes per set), and the Minecraft set to me just looks... well... lazy, a bit like the game itself I guess. However, there are some rather interesting sets that are currently being reviewed, such as...

A fully functioning Land Rover Defender 110 [link]
Thinking With Portals [link]
Ultimate Collector's Series Jawa Sandcrawler [link]

But what I want to draw peoples' attention to are the unsung heroes of Cuusoo, those awesome sets and ideas that for some reason don't seem to be getting the support they really deserve. I have two ideas on there myself, but I'm not linking to those as this post is not meant to be for my benefit. You see, the biggest problem with the Cuusoo platform is that ideas don't get selected based on their own merit, but because the creators know how to exploit social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc in order to gain exposure and to garner as many votes as possible.

So in an attempt to redress the balance (not that I think that I have enough followers on here to make any real difference, unless you too spread the word and raise awareness) here are some of my favourite sets, that I would love to see made in to real kits (with the possible exception of two, as the licence for that franchise currently resides with another, sub-standard, construction brick manufacturer)...

Sign up, vote generously, and let others know about these sets (and any others on Cuusoo that might take your fancy) and with a bit of luck we can have new Star Wars Lego sets available to us!

Thank you if you actually managed to persevere through all that :D.

Well, what can I tell you about myself... For a start I'm an IT engineer by trade, dealing mostly with the retail sector, but if it's a PC, printer or till, I can probably fix it. I've always had an interest in digital photography ever since I borrowed a friend's Sony Mavica camera (which saved photos to a floppy disk!), and I gradually worked my way up through a series of 'point n click' cameras until I finally bought my first DSLR camera. It took a little while to adapt to a camera that was capable of being controlled manually, rather than letting a CPU make all the decisions for me, but I think my skills with a lens are gradually improving.

Now, I'll admit it, I'm a Star Wars nerd, and being the big kid that I am I started collecting Star Wars Lego toys, began to use them in my photography, and uploaded the results here on DeviantART. They turned out to be rather popular so the collection of models steadily increased (just for the minifigures, honest ;p) as did the style of photos I was using them for. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get some in a gallery, but I have to admit I'm not too sure about the legality of that option, so I'll hold off for now :D.

My other hobbies... Well, I do have an interest in firearms, which is a bit of a double-edged sword as I live in the United Kingdom, a country with some of the strictest (read: restrictive) gun laws in the world. However, I still get out most weekends for a session of clay pigeon shooting, and in the past I used to be a keen airgunner and then an airsoft skirmisher. But once you've shouldered a shotgun, and heard the noise and felt the recoil, airsoft guns start looking very much like the toys they are. I actually got the nickname "SWAT" from fellow members of a rifle club I used to attend, mostly because I always wore black when shooting. It eventually stuck, and I like it :).

Last few things: I have an interest in anything sci-fi or gadget related, I love anime series and movies, I build PCs like they're going out of fashion, I love playing Battlefield 3 (same name on there as on here), and I love driving anywhere for any reason.

If there's anything else you want to know, just ask me , but in the meantime go have a look through my gallery, and let me know what you think.

Peace, out.

Thanks for joining the group!
One thing though:
I don't know if you realize it, but you are sending your creations to group favorites instead of the regular page. Not sure if you realize it, but you need to send it to featured.

Thanks. Alkido STILL hasn't learned to send it to featured. If it continues, I may have to remove him.

To be fair, there's no way to submit to the Featured folder from the group page itself, the only option available is add a favourite. If you can enable the "Contribute art" button it might make things a little easier.
