37 years...
37 years I've lasted without breaking anything...
Then I had to go and break a ####ing rib .
I'd love to say it happened whilst doing something terribly exciting, like kayaking, or abseiling, but no, all I did was lean over the arm of my office chair to pick something up that I'd dropped. The arm of the chair jabbed in to my ribs, I leant over that little bit too far, and *crack*. that was it . Now I live in fear of every time I need to sneeze . Oh well, a weeks rest will hopefully let the pain subside to the point where I can get back to work.
On a plus note though, following my good fortune in winning a Wicked Lasers Facebook competition, I've been unofficially employed by them as a product copywriter . Since then I have been sent another laser and a prototype of their new super-torch which should be appearing on their site relatively soon (no, I'm not going to post any details of it yet, so don't ask ).
Now if you'll excuse me, I need more tea and paracetamol...
Still refusing to grow up...
Wow, it's been over a year since my last journal! I guess that's some indication of just how 'interesting' my life gets :D.
I know my submissions have been somewhat lacking in the past few months, it's not that I've lost interest in photography, far from it, but most of the stuff I've been doing recently is just for friends or family, nothing worth posting for the world to laugh at ;p. I was toying with the idea of a new camera, one of the soon-to-be-released updated Canon models, with 50 megapixel sensors! That would produce some amazingly detailed images... But at over £3k for the 'entry' level model? Nah... Maybe not.
The Lego colle
Makes up for last week :D...
OK, so a week of decorating isn't everyone's idea of fun, least of all mine :D, but fate has an odd way of kicking you in the teeth one day, then presenting you with a set of diamond-encrusted dentures the next.
I have another week off now (last of my holiday allowance for the year, more decorating sadly), but my last day was a blinder! First things was, the day went by quickly, with no stress, drama, or disasters, which in itself is an achievement, but on top of that I also had an email telling me that my company car is going to be replaced soon. Finally gone will be the crappy, technology-starved Vauxhall Astra estate that I've been forced
Yaay a week off!!!
But it's gonna be hell :D.
I was really hoping that I could spend a lazy week playing Battlefield 4 and swearing at Dice & EA for releasing such a buggy POS (whilst secretly actually enjoying the game), but it's time I faced an awful truth... My bedroom is sorely in need of redecorating :fear:. The whole terracotta and cream look is very 2002 (the last time it was done) so it's due a thorough makeover.
However there's something you need to understand about me, I can do DIY, but where I'm concerned the "D" stands for "Destroy". I am a disaster waiting to happen whenever I pick up a power tool or a paintbrush, so I will be relying on the
Gawd, please, just let it end!
That's it, I've officially had enough of summer now. Too many days of 30°c+ highs and nights of 90% humidity and 18°c+ have taken their toll on this poor ol' Brit, I am hugely sleep-deprived and am not looking forward to another week at work. Now I know that to some of you, those figures may look pretty tame, but remember that I live in England, where a clear blue sky is enough to send people screaming in to their houses in fear of the bright shiny light crossing the heavens above them :D.
I'm a winter person, with anti-freeze for blood instead of coolant. Give me snow, biting winds, and a log fire to come home to and I'm a happy chappy :).

Well it's confirmed, fractured rib & bruising. Doctor's instructions are that I'm OK to work, but no driving or lifting anything... I'm a field engineer for an IT company, that rules out pretty much everything I do! Looks like I'm going to be stuck at home for the next fortnight just arranging parts and visits for other engineers. At least it doesn't count as sick leave.
